Enrollment

Admission to the Master’s Degree Program in Management Engineering is based on a selective process described in detail in the Admission Notice available here: https://www.unifi.it/it/node/10030. Students who meet the eligibility criteria (see section ACCESS REQUIREMENTS) may apply to one or more of the four admission rounds (“competitions”) scheduled for the 2025/2026 academic year. Submitting an application for an admission round requires payment of a €60 non-refundable application fee. A limited number of candidates will be admitted in each round, according to the quotas specified in the Admission Notice and reported in the table below.

Following each competition, starting from the ranking publication date, applicants will have access to their results. Each applicant will receive one of the following statuses:

• ADMITTED

The candidate has secured a place and is eligible to enroll. Enrollment must occur within the designated enrollment time window. Failure to enroll within this period will result in the loss of the “ADMITTED” status. The candidate must then participate in a future competition to regain eligibility.

• QUALIFIED

The candidate meets the admission requirements, but has not been admitted due to their ranking position. Qualified candidates may apply for subsequent competitions by submitting a new application and paying the €60 admission fee again. Starting from Competition 3, QUALIFIED applicants may be reconsidered during repechage rounds if some places become available (e.g., due to ADMITTED candidates not enrolling). Candidates deemed ADMITTED after a repechage round must enroll within the designated repechage time window. Failure to enroll within this period will result in the loss of the “ADMITTED” status. The candidate must then participate in a future competition to regain eligibility.

• CANCELLED

The candidate does not meet the access requirements and is permanently ineligible for enrollment.

Access requirements

Curricular requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from class L-8 or L-9 (or other degree acquired abroad and recognized as eligible, i.e. industrial engineering or information technology engineering or others), awarded at least 155 graded ECTSs (i.e. excluding “idoneo” or simple “pass”).

Among these 155 ECTSs, the minimum number of ECTSs earned in the learning areas most specific to the training of management engineers is listed below:

I) Learning area of mathematics specific to the training of management engineers (STAT-01/A (formerly SECS-S/01), STAT-02/A (formerly SECS-S/03), MATH-03/B (formerly MAT/06), MATH-06/A (formerly MAT/09), IINF-04/A (formerly INGINF/04, with respect to subjects of systems theory): minimum 15 ECTS in the learning area of economics and business management (IEGE-01/A (formerly ING-IND/35), ECON-07/A (formerly SECS-P/08), ECON-09/A (formerly SECS-P/09): minimum 6 ECTS

II) Area of subjects related to industrial plants, production technologies and their management (IIND-04/A (formerly ING-IND/16), IIND-05/A (formerly ING-IND/17): minimum 6 ECTS.

An overall minimum of 18 ECTS must be earned across Areas I and II

III) Area of energy engineering, from the perspective of management (IIND-07/A (formerly INGIND/10), IIND-07/B (formerly ING-IND/11), IIND-06/B (formerly ING-IND/09), IIND-06/A (formerly ING-IND/08), IIND-08/A (formerly ING-IND/32), IIET-01/A (formerly ING-IND/31, with respect to subjects having as their core the fundamentals and applications for thermal or electrical energy management): minimum 6 ECTS.

Curricular requirements are automatically satisfied for students with a bachelor’s degree in Management Engineering obtained from the University of Florence without the 12 ECTS internship or with 'Teoria dei Sistemi' and 'Fondamenti di Ricerca Operativa' in their study plan.

General requirements

Applicants must attach the academic transcript showing the Grade Point Average (GPA) / Weighted Average Score (WAS) to the application.

In case the academic transcript does not show the Grade Point Average (GPA) / Weighted Average Score (WAS):

  • Applicants coming from the University of Florence must self-declare their GPA in the Application form for admission (Annex 1 of the Admission Notice)
  • Applicants coming from institutions other than the University of Florence must self-declare their GPA in the Application form for admission (Annex 1 of the Admission Notice) as well as provide a document issued and stamped by their university showing the GPA/WAS. In addition to the original document, the applicant must provide its sworn translation (however, if the transcript is written in English, French or Spanish, it does not need to be translated into Italian).

Grade requirements

  • Candidates must have a GPA (Grade Point Average) above the country-specific threshold indicated in Annex 2 of the Admission Notice.
  • The application will be accepted for evaluation only if the Grade Point Average (GPA) / Weighted Average Score (WAS) reported in the transcript is at least equal to the threshold value indicated as the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA_min). If the GPA is less than GPA_min, the application will be automatically rejected.
  • For students with a bachelor’s degree obtained in an Italian University (including the University of Florence) GPA_min=23.

Additional requirements

  • To access the course, a B2 level proficiency in English is required. Only B2 certificates or equivalent certifications issued by the CLA, Language Center of the University of Florence, or other credited institutions as indicated in the Admission Notice.
  • Non-EU students and Marco Polo students are also required to apply for pre-enrolment through the appropriate database pursuant to the provisions in the ministerial regulations for foreign students’ access to university courses.
